Last Thursday Aussies heard a bit about Judo on ABC Radio!

Thank you ABC Radio and especially to Emily Bourke from The World Today, for coming up to Yuki Judo to talk with us about our This Girl Can Week event last Wednesday.

You can listen to the note by clicking HERE.

It’s always great to spread the word about our beloved Martial Art!

Great Women-only Session for This Girl Can Week!

Thank you so much to the participants of our first This Girl Can Week event last night!

We’ve had so much fun working out, doing movements inspired in Judo techniques & exercises and even learning some self-defence techniques at the end!

Thank you also to Emily Bourke from ABC Radio for coming to Yuki Judo to talk with us at the beginning of the event!

Next This Girl Can event we hope to see more local women that want to give it a try!

Congratulations again to the women that participated and remember that Yuki Judo is a proud supporter of #ThisGrilCanVIC and women are welcome to come anytime to one of our regular adult classes to try Judo.

Just contact us for more information.

See you on the mat!

This Girl Can week – Sign up to our Women Open Session

To celebrate today’s International Women’s Day, Yuki Judo is organising an Open Session on Wednesday 24 March 6:15pm exclusively for women that want to get active whatever their age, size, background, gender identity or ability.

Yuki Judo is a proud supporter of This Girl Can VIC initiative to encourage all women and girls across Victoria to get active and we are organising this event as part of This Girl Can Week.

It’s going to be a fun class suitable for all fitness levels to exercise with Judo inspired movements.

Contact us or go to our Facebook page event to confirm your assistance, since there is a limited number of persons per session. But don’t worry, if the session gets booked out, we are going to open another one so every woman can have the opportunity.

If you can only attend a morning class, send us a message with your EOI. If we gather enough people, we might have the chance to do a morning session on Monday 22/3!

For more information go to our This Girl Can dedicated page.

See you on the mat!

We have finished another year!

Last week Yuki Judo had its last class of 2020. No doubt it was a challenging year for everybody but in spite of that, we’ve kept training via our videos and online classes.

Happily, at the end of November we managed to come back to our Dojo and resume our classes sticking to our COVID management plan and enjoying training Judo together again.

Yuki, the name of our Dojo, means Courage in Japanese and it’s one of the Judo core values. Judo is a really difficult martial art, it takes time and dedication to make progress and many times is scary and challenging.

I wanted to share these two videos I’ve prepared for our brave Judokas showing what we do in every class.

Looking forward to resuming our classes next year, I wish you all a great 2021!

Open Judo Live Session Thu 7/5 4pm AEST!

Yuki Judo is having a Free Online Training Session for Kids this Thursday 7 May at 4pm (AEST).

The session is for young Judokas from 7 years old onwards and is going to be a live version of our video classes.

All the video classes, as well as this live session are free and no registration is required. Just go to our Online Judo section to get the Zoom ID for the session or to watch the video classes.

Kids who haven’t trained Judo before are welcome to join the class, but is better for them to do some of the video classes beforehand to have an idea of what’s coming.

Look forward to seeing you on Thursday!

Yuki Judo Goes Online!

A few weeks after we suspended the classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I started recording free video classes for the young judokas in our kids class and they are available for any other kid that wants to give it a go.

Please, don’t expect perfect ‘Instagram’ quality videos, this is more about Judo. The classes are recorded so they can be followed standing in front of a TV, laptop or mobile phone with minimal space required to do the exercises.

I’m uploading a new class every approximately 2 weeks and there is a section where they can pick the individual exercises in case they want to work in something in particular.

Please stay safe in this difficult times and I hope we all can go back to our Dojos soon.

In the meantime, see you on the (virtual) mat!

Yuki Judo Classes Suspended due to COVID-19

After consultations with the City Council and given the latest developments regarding the Coronavirus pandemic, ALL YUKI JUDO CLASSES ARE SUSPENDED until further notice (initially for 4 weeks)

Take care of yourselves and your families and follow the official guidelines to work together to minimise the spread of the virus (Link).

Looking forward to see you back at the Dojo!

An Amazing Gift To Finish 2019

Sensei Clau holding the custom made book made by Juki Dojo's students

I just wanted to share with you, surely the best judo gift I’ve ever received: a custom made book written by Eilidh and with illustrations by Abi, two Judokas from Yuki Judo’s Kids class.

It’s about a kata training at Yuki Judo that they came to see back in October.

I could not have thought of a better gift to finalise this first year of Yuki Judo Dojo.

Have a great festive season. Classes resume on Wed 29 January 2020.

See you on the mat!

See you on 2020!

Yesterday was the last class of the year. Thank you to all the judokas that trained with us during 2018 and look forward to see you all in 2020.

Classes resume on Wed 29 January

I want to take the opportunity to wish you and your families Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

See you on the mat!

Yuki Judo Visited Strathmore North Primary

Yuki Judo was at Strathmore North Primary School last week, running a Judo workshop for kids from year 3 to 6.

Amazing experience and wonderful kids!

As part of the school’s Japanese program, the kids received from Yuki Judo a Japanese vocabulary list and learned about the history of Judo, its principles, Judo etiquette and what we do in a regular Judo practice.
